Since I just started blogging last month and I didn't get to write about all of Kayley's firsts that she has done in her life, I thought I would mention the ones I remember the most. But first, I would like to tell you a little about Kayley. When Kayley was born, I knew right away that she was going to be strong-willed, stubborn and very energetic. I also found out that she is very independent and she LOVES her food. When I started feeding her solid food, she was not picky at all. I was blessed that Kayley loved all her fruits and veggies I pureed for her. She never spit out any of the food I gave her. She would eat it all and usually wanted more. Then when she started crawling, she was a mover. She never wanted to sit still. Kayley started crawling at 8 months old. At 11months old, she stood up on her own and went in our pool for the first time. Kayley loves the water. When her first birthday arrived, we had all our family and friends over at our house. Kayley's Uncle Randy, Aunt Taylin and her cousins, Logan and Chloe even came up from Florida. We were so excited to spend almost two weeks with them. We had Kayley's party in our back yard. It was a lot of fun and I had fun playing it all out. My husband, Tony grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and all the kids swam in the pool. Kayley also had her very own giant cupcake all to herself. She loved it! She did share some with her daddy though. She is such a sweetie. She loves to share with others. A few weeks after her birthday, Kayley started walking all by herself. Tony and I were so proud of her. But it wasn't long and Kayley was running around and getting into everything. Then Christmas came and the day after, Kayley experienced her first major injury. Kayley was in my mother-in-law's arms taking a nap, when she woke up and wanted her cup. It was a the floor by Buddy(our big black Chow), so she got up to get it and tripped over Buddy and fell towards his mouth. Kayley's ear caught the top of her ear and it ripped open. Meanwhile, Tony and I are at Meijer, when Randy calls us and tells us what happened. We figured that it was just a scratch, but when we got home and looked at Kayley's ear, I noticed it was pretty deep and I could see cartilage. We decided to take her to Genesys because it is just down the road from us. That was a mistake!!! We were there for about six hours. We had a doctor tell us that Kayley would need plastic surgery on her ear to close it back up and put the cartilage back in. Tony and I also got questioned by a few people and they even had CPS involved. All this headache for them to tell us that they wouldn't do the surgery because they didn't have a plastic surgeon(They basically didn't want to do it in case they messed up), so they sent us to Hurley at 9:30pm. We were so upset and tired. We decided to never take our kids to Genesys hospital for anything any more. When we got to Hurley, we waited for another two hours and then finally, a EMT came in and cleaned up her ear and ended up just gluing Kayley's ear back together. The lady did a very good job. Now Kayley just has a little scar. God blessed us that night and gave us the strength to go through that long and tiring night. Then last month, on the 18th, Kayley had her first fetal seizure. That morning, Tony was going to go to the clinic to get some meds for his cold. Kayley had been coughing for a few days, so I thought it would be best if we took her in too. Kayley had also felt a little warm and her cheeks were red. I took her temperature to see what it was and it said it was only 96.6. When we got to to the clinic, her temp was 98.6 and he said she had tonsillitis. He subscribed us some antibiotics and sent it to Rite Aid. Rite Aid told us it would take 30 mins. to fill, so we went to Pines Nursing Home to see my Grandpa. My mom and Bryan her husband was there also. When we got to Pines, it was only about 15 mins. and Kayley was sitting on Tony's lap, when all of a sudden, she had a seizure. I ran out of the room to find some help and told the lady I found to call 911. Tony and I were so scared. We were so blessed that my mom was there to help us. She knew exactly what to do. My mom and brother have epilepsy. She has had many experiences and knew what to do when someone has a seizure. When the ambulance got there, the paramedic took Kayley's temperature. It was 103.3. We told them she had a seizure and it only lasted about 90 secs. and she fell asleep when she was done. The paramedics strapped Kayley and I to a gurney and we headed to Hurley hospital in the ambulance.(First time ever for Kayley and I) I prayed to God the whole way there that she wouldn't have another seizure. The paramedics gave Kayley some Tylenol to lower her temp. She did not like it. They only had the adult Tylenol. When we got to Hurley, they took an x-ray of her chest and checked her throat and urine. They all came back fine. Kayley didn't have Strep or anything. They said that she just got something viral and the seizure was due to her temperature going up so high in a short period of time. So they discharged us and told us to have her followed up with Kayley's Pediatrician. I took Kayley to her Dr. and explained to her what happened. She checked her ears and told me she had an ear infection and gave me some antibiotics for it and her cough. Now she is doing great and back to her normal energetic self. Tony and I learned a valuable lesson that day. We learned that even though we feel helpless and scared in situations like that, God is always in control and is watching over us all the time. He knew exactly where to have us at that moment and took control of the situation. God is an amazing God and loves his children. I know that WE are HIS children and he can take us at anytime. But until then, we need to fully trust in Him and rely on Him for our needs. God always provides for us. It is up to us on if we let Him intercede in our lives. I thank God everyday for giving us His hand of protection over us on that day. I also thank him for the wonderful blessing HE gave us of Kayley.
