Kayley's Big Fort

Kayley is so proud of her fort Mommy made

For the last couple of weeks, the weather here in Michigan has been pretty warm outside. It has almost felt like summer. The trees and flowers are even sprouting. But today, it has turned into really feeling like the month of March is supposed to feel. So it is a little chilly to play outside. I decided it would be a great time to introduce Kayley to one of my favorite childhood activities....Big Fort Making!!! Here is Kayley's Big Fort. Hope this brings back some fond memories for you or even inspires you to make one with your kids. Happy Fort Making!

Buddy came in and checked it out
Kayley was so excited that Buddy liked it. She loves Buddy!
Her eyes are so big in this picture. She was kicking her feet up and down.

My Mom's Surprise "Over The Hill" Party

March 6th was my Mom's birthday. She really wanted a surprise party, since she was turning 50 this year. I promised her I would give her one, but I wasn't sure how I was going to throw her a surprise birthday party without her knowing about it. Then it hit me...I told Melissa Poyorena(a very close family friend) that I would host a "Pampered Chef" Party for her. I asked her if I could have my Mom's party at the same time, that way my mom would never figure it out and she said "Yes". So, last Thursday, I had a Pampered Chef/Surprise Over The Hill Party for my mom. When my mom got to  our house, she was so surprised. She loved it! She couldn't believe I pulled it off without her know about it. She was starting to get really bummed out that I didn't throw her a party before, but I think I made up for it. Here are some pictures of the party.

Posters of Fun Facts of the time my mom was born and when she graduated.

I had so much fun doing this party for my mom. It was really hard trying not to tell my mom about the party. But it worked out really well and she had a lot of fun. My mom is the greatest, so I was honored to do this party for her. I'm so glad you enjoyed this party Mom. I love you!

My St. Patrick's Day Weekend

Since I'm part Irish, St. Patrick's Day is one of my favorite holdays. I wish I could say that I got to do something realy fun or  a lot of shamrock shakes from McDonalds, but instead I ended up getting a really bad cold. I'm pretty sure I caught it from Kayley. She has been having a cold on and off for a few weeks now. On St. Patrick's Day morning, I took Kayley and myself to the clinic to get some medicine. My chest was so congested, it felt llike I had an elephant sitting on me. I was really praying that I wouldn't get phemonia or something. The Dr. at the clinic said that Kayley and I just have the crud. I had it a lot worse though. The Dr. gave us both an antibiotic and gave me an anthistimine as well. Of course, it was a yellow syrup type medicine and it tastes really gross. When we got hme from the clinic and Rite Aid, we took our medicine and ate lunch. Later that day, when I was changing Kayley's diaper, I noticed she had a few red bumps on her body. At first, I thought they were pimples, but when I looked up chicken pox on they internet, I knew she had them. Luckily, she only has a few. I'm very grateful she has chicken pox now and won't get them later. At least Kayley and I got to celebrate the holiday somewhat on last Wednesday. In Awana, we had a "Wear All Grean" Day, so here are a couple pictures of Kayley's outfit and hair.

First , she had this tierra on, then she took it off.....
Then I tried this headband and she wouldn't keep that on......
So I took off the shamrocks on er headband and put them in her hair with pig tails.....
Of course after I got her from her Puggles class, they were not in her hair anymore.

Sparks-A-Rama 2012

Cornerstone Baptist Church Sparks Team
(Paige, Trever, AJ, Reagen, Carolyne, Jackson, Mya, Nicholas, Carolyn, Kami, Lainey
Lydia and Charissa. From front to back)

This year, I got the privilege to help Mrs. Vicki Whitman coach our Sparky team. I was so excited to be able to help out, because I remember when I was in the Awana Olympics when I was a little girl. I didn't get to be in the Sparks-A-Rama because I didn't go to Cornerstone until I was in the fourth grade, but I remember how much fun it was when I went. Our Sparks were the only team on our circle in the gym, to have finished their first Sparky book. Most of them have finished two books and four of them have finished all their books and a Sparky Workbook. We even have one girl, (Charissa) who has finished all her books and workbooks and is now working on her "Be Attitudes" (Matthew 5:1-12). She is one of my second grade girls in Sparks and she flies through all her verses. In Sparks-A-Rama, she even got rewarded a dollar from the guy who was the speaker for the event for all her hard work she did. Our team this year had six kindergartners and only two of them have actually played in the Sparks-A-Rama last year. So this event was new to most of are team. They did so good this year though. They worked really hard and had a great attitude through the whole thing. Our team tied for third place with another church. Even though we didn't win, they had a lot of fun and I am very proud of them. I'm so glad that I was involved coaching such a great group of kids. I'm looking forward to it next year.
